Paul F. Borrelli
Chief Compliance Officer
Paul Borrelli serves as Sapere’s Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and is responsible for corporate risk and regulatory compliance for Sapere Wealth Management and our related affiliates. In addition to his vital CCO role, Mr. Borrelli jointly serves as Chief Operating Officer where he leverages his industry experience by providing counsel for operational, fund administration and corporate matters.
With over 34 years of financial industry experience, Mr. Borrelli has served in various executive roles including Managing Partner, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer for both public and private enterprises.
Prior to joining Sapere, Mr. Borrelli was Managing Partner for one of the nation’s largest outsourced provider of executive services with a focus on private equity structuring and underwriting and investment banking. As Managing Partner, he was responsible for providing strategic leadership, including the recruitment and training of executive level professionals for contract deployment, market development and engagement quality assurance. Before that he served as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President for one of the nation’s largest bank holding company, where he was responsible for and directed the activities of 2,000+ employees and over $100 billion in mutual funds, private investment funds, and trust assets. He was also instrumental in analyzing and consummating over 15 mergers and acquisitions of regional bank holding companies, brokerage firms and regional private wealth management firms, helping establish the bank’s national footprint as a full-service financial institution.
Prior to that, Mr. Borrelli served as COO, CCO and Investment Officer for two independent, privately-held, registered investment advisors, each totaling over $8 billion in assets under management. During this time, he was charged with structuring and launching over 35 registered investment companies (i.e. open-ended mutual funds), as well as structuring, launching and operating five private offshore investment vehicles – investment vehicles with an exclusive focus on equity-type investments domiciled in emerging-market countries. During the launch and operations of these private investment vehicles, he spent considerable time analyzing and managing investment opportunities, including travel and on-site due diligence of emerging market companies in global regions including South America, Southeast Asia, India, and Africa.
Mr. Borrelli earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Clemson University where he was a four-year varsity letterman in wrestling.
